{ The K Mark Art Live }
A guitar’s value lies not only in the moment it is made, but in the moment a musician picks it up, plays it, creates with it and truly brings it to a live stage. For KEPMA, The K Mark is not just a high-end performance series; it is the beginning of a journey towards the stage, towards musicians and towards more genuine expression.
This is an international guitar art exchange programme initiated by KEPMA. We will keep inviting outstanding guitarists from China and abroad to share performance, composition, sound and guitar culture. Here, playing is not a one-way presentation on a distant stage.
It can be the sharing of a composition, a closer encounter with sound, or a genuine conversation about expression on the guitar.
On 21 June, the summer solstice, when the day is at its longest, the first special session of The K Mark Art Live invites two Korean fingerstyle guitarists and composers, Hwajong Kim and Jiho Kim, for an up-close fingerstyle performance and meet-up.
Host: Kepma Guitar | Organiser: Rusi Acoustic
/ Hwajong Kim Hwajong Kim
Korean fingerstyle guitarist and composer, a graduate of Seoul Jazz Academy who majored in Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music.
He has won top prizes at several international fingerstyle competitions, including first place at the 2025 Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival (USA) and first place at the 2025 Walnut Valley Festival International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship.
Hwajong Kim’s music combines powerful energy with delicate emotion.
He builds vivid, story-driven fingerstyle pieces with clear melodies, rich harmony, open tunings and layered percussive techniques.
In his playing, technique is never mere display; it serves the emotion and narrative of the music.
/ Jiho Kim Jiho Kim
Fingerstyle guitarist, a scholarship graduate in guitar performance from Berklee College of Music, who also received scholarship offers from several other music schools.
He has worked on official game soundtrack projects as guitar arrangement director and lead guitarist, performed at international music and film festivals, and held his own masterclasses, continually pushing the boundaries of fingerstyle guitar through performance, arranging and teaching.
Jiho Kim’s music combines the structural awareness of an academic background with the free expression of live performance.
He excels at combining melody and arrangement with the acoustic character of the guitar itself, giving a single guitar richer layers and a greater sense of space.
At this first special session of The K Mark Art Live, both guests will perform on The K Mark series ROM-0. In the hands of two musicians with different styles, the audience will be able to hear up close how the ROM-0 sounds in fingerstyle playing.
The same guitar takes on a different sonic character depending on each player’s touch, rhythm and musical understanding. Perhaps that is the most captivating thing about live music.
{ Limited seats, booking welcome }
If you love fingerstyle guitar, look forward to experiencing international musicians up close, or want to hear more of what a guitar can do in a smaller, closer, more genuine space, you are welcome to book a seat for this event.
See you at The K Mark Art Live on 21 June.
