Sai Ping also works under his full name, Bian Saiping. He began guitar in 1997 and founded Fei Guitar in 2006. Performance, improvisation, education and competition judging form different parts of his career. His improvisation book and workshops provide teaching resources.

Repertoire & listening guide

Beginner course and teaching content

Saiping teaches a completed 12-lesson beginner series published by Fei Qin Hang on Bilibili’s course platform. It documents his structured work with beginners alongside the advanced teaching already described here. The course is in Chinese; full access is paid, with previews available on the platform.

The syllabus moves from instrument basics, scales, picking, theory and notation to chord shapes, coordination, singing with guitar, rhythm and strumming. Later lessons cover hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, a simple solo, arpeggios and combined song practice, ending with chord degrees as a bridge to further study.

Sai Ping (real name Bian Saiping), born December 1977 in Changzhou, Jiangsu, is a guitar-review media creator, music educator, and founder of Fei Qin Hang (Flying Guitar Store).

Musical Journey

He first picked up the guitar in 1997—Eric Clapton was the first guitarist who truly moved him. From 2001 to 2005 he toured with the band “Fei” (Flying), building a deep ability to dissect songs and arrange music through self-taught transcription and ensemble work. In 2006 he founded Fei Qin Hang—named in memory of that band—starting from online sales on Taobao. Over more than a decade it has grown into one of China’s best-known guitar review and education brands, with roughly 1,700 review and tutorial videos published and hundreds of thousands of followers across platforms.

Songwriting & Teaching

He released the solo guitar album Sai Ping Guitar Collection (including “Bohemian Rhapsody (Live)”), and his self-written single “Don’t Let Go” appears on the album On the Water Side. He created the tutorial series “Guitar Improvisation: Creative Guitar Playing”, covering arranging and improvised playing-singing, and hosted multiple advanced guitar training camps in Changzhou in 2021 and 2022.

Affiliations

Committee member of the Jiangsu Popular Music Association and Vice President of the Changzhou Guitar Art Association (2025); a long-standing judge of major national guitar competitions including the WAGF Fingerstyle Guitar Competition and the Kepma Cup Acoustic Guitar Competition, and lead instructor for guitar-teacher training programs.
