Yang Jiasheng (Jesson Yang), born in 1999 in Liuyang, Changsha (Hunan, China), is a fingerstyle guitarist, original musician, guitar book author, and guitar instructor of China’s new generation. He is a signed performing artist of Kepma Guitars and a signed guitarist of Guitar China.

Coming from a scholarly family — his grandfather was a renowned calligrapher in Liuyang, Hunan — he grew up immersed in traditional arts and developed a distinctive aesthetic sensibility from an early age. He first took up the guitar at fifteen and majored in Energy and Power Engineering at university, making his way into professional music from a science-and-engineering background. Under the dedicated guidance of the renowned Chinese guitarist Wang Kaizhong, he rose step by step from a late starter to the top of international competitions.

With solid performance skills and outstanding creativity, he has won major honors at top international and national competitions:

His original works include A Hymn of Farewell, Beside You, Lazy Paws’ Dreamland, and Lost Eden, among others. His debut original fingerstyle solo album Virgo Fantasy is about to be released: ten original pieces performed on a single acoustic guitar, fusing tango, ragtime, Celtic, American roots, world folk, and modern orchestral elements into music that is grand in narrative yet delicate in emotion.

He has created countless high-quality arrangements spanning pop, film/TV, and game soundtracks. Notably, his arrangements of music from the game Genshin Impact exceed 80 tracks and have garnered over two million views on Bilibili; their quality has earned high praise from several musicians who performed on the original recordings.

Active in teaching, arranging, and performing since 2017, he has taught more than 1,000 students nationwide. Drawing on years of frontline teaching, he breaks down advanced playing techniques and arranging principles into clear, practical, easy-to-follow steps. He has released the online guitar course “From Zero to Fingerstyle: Performance, Arranging & Composition,” and partnered with Jilin Publishing Group Co., Ltd. to publish the guitar sing-along tutorial series Ken Jita Sing-Along Course (Beginner and Advanced volumes) and the carefully arranged songbook collection Ken Jita Songbook Vol. 1–3.

He produced the sheet music for jazz guitarist Li Weile’s original solo album DECEMBER; served as the guitarist for singer-songwriter Lu Ke’an’s 2023 “Fireworks & Songs” national concert tour; and appeared as a special guest at the Changsha stop of Taiwanese guitarist Zhang Zhonglin’s “Ordinary Tunes” national meet-and-greet tour.

The rigorous logic of his engineering training, combined with the Eastern aesthetic sensibility cultivated in childhood, shapes a distinctive musical style: he skillfully blends modern pop, modern orchestral, world folk, and American roots music into melodies that are instantly memorable and rich in narrative, delivered with delicate, warm playing.
